What’s your family photography style?
Our Milwaukee family photography sessions blend candid lifestyle moments with thoughtfully guided, beautifully composed portraits. We focus on natural connection and movement while also making sure you walk away with timeless family images where everyone looks their best.
We believe in letting kids be kids so their personalities shine through, but we also gently guide posing when needed. Sitting and smiling can be tough for some little ones, so we mix traditional groupings with playful interaction — walking, exploring, laughing together — to create a balanced gallery of both classic portraits and genuine, in-between moments.
Most families leave with a mix of candid storytelling images and frame-worthy family portraits.
What should we wear for our family photos?
Choose clothing that’s comfortable and weather-appropriate, especially if you’ll be sitting on the ground or picking up little ones. We recommend coordinating rather than matching. A simple way to start is by choosing a color palette; sunset tones, jewel tones, soft pastels, beachy hues, or earthy neutrals all photograph beautifully. You can also select two main colors and build around them with complementary shades, textures, and subtle patterns.
Avoid bold logos or very bright neon colors. When in doubt, send us a photo of your outfit ideas- we’re always happy to help you plan a look that feels cohesive and natural.
What if my child is wild during our session?
Take a deep breath. We’ve got you. As experienced Milwaukee family photographers, we’ve seen every personality and mood. Some of the most beautiful family portraits happen in the in-between moments of movement, laughter, and play.
If your little one is having an off day, try not to stress. Give them a little love, or space if that’s what they need, and let us guide the session. We’re comfortable working with different moods and energy levels, and we know how to gently redirect when needed.
We love leaning into kids’ natural energy and finding connection through play. Some of the best images come from running, laughing, or being delightfully silly. Often, those “in-between” moments are the ones that end up framed on the wall. And if we need a little backup from you, we’ll let you know. Otherwise, trust that we’ll capture the beauty in the chaos.
