When should I schedule my maternity and/or newborn photo sessions?
Maternity photos typically take place between weeks 30–34 of your pregnancy. That said, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer—we recommend scheduling far enough ahead of your due date that baby isn’t likely to arrive early, but not so early that your bump isn’t photo-ready yet. :)
For newborn sessions, it’s best to reserve your session before baby arrives by placing a deposit. Once your little one is born, just call or email us to pick a date and time that works best for you. Ideally, we aim for newborn sessions between 5–14 days after birth, when babies are the sleepiest and still naturally curl up into those adorable poses. If that window passes—don’t worry! We can still get beautiful, heartfelt images of your little one at any age.
What are the differences between in-home and studio newborn sessions?
Both options offer a relaxed, baby-led experience with a focus on connection—but the setting you choose can shape the overall vibe of your photos.
In-home newborn sessions are cozy and personal, set in the space where your baby is most comfortable. We’ll capture everyday moments like snuggles on the couch, feeding or nursing, and those first memories in the nursery. This option is great for incorporating pets, older siblings, or meaningful details from your home life. It also allows for plenty of breaks for feeding, changing, or simply settling in—without needing to pack up and leave the house.
Studio newborn sessions take place in our bright, natural-light space designed with simplicity and comfort in mind. With beautiful light, clean backdrops, and no need to tidy your home, it’s a great choice for families who love a minimalist, timeless look. It also allows you to focus fully on your baby while we handle all the setup and styling.
Not sure which one’s the better fit? We’re happy to chat and help you choose what works best for your family, comfort, and style.
How do you approach maternity and newborn sessions?
Maternity sessions are all about connection—between you and your growing baby, your partner, and your journey into parenthood. We want your photos to reflect that love and anticipation in a way that feels genuine to you. Years from now, your child will see these images and know just how deeply they were loved even before they were born.
Whether you’re envisioning something majestic or casual, solo portraits or the whole family involved—we’ll work with you to create a personalized experience that feels relaxed, flattering, and full of heart.
We take a similar approach with newborn sessions: focused on connection and storytelling. We use a lifestyle style of photography, capturing your baby being a baby—comfortable, safe, and loved. We’ll document those tiny details (yes, we’re obsessed with little fingers and toes), but even more than that, we want to show your family as it is in this moment—together, in love, and starting something beautiful.
