Art Meets Nature: Taylor’s Cinematic Senior Portrait Session at Villa Terrace and Grant Park

Taylor’s senior portrait session was an incredible journey, not just because she made the long trip from Michigan to Wisconsin for her photos, but because of the creative spirit she brought with her. We had the opportunity to highlight two very different but equally stunning senior portrait locations: the timeless Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum and the natural beauty of Grant Park during golden hour. Together, these settings reflected Taylor’s love for art, literature, and the outdoors, bringing her senior portrait session to life in such a special way.

We began the session at the iconic Villa Terrace, a Milwaukee gem. Perched above Lake Michigan, this historic site offers old-world European charm that’s hard to match. Its Italian Renaissance-style architecture, paired with lush gardens, made it the perfect backdrop for Taylor’s artistic side. Surrounded by vibrant greenery, we featured one of her acrylic masterpieces and painting palette, blending the serene natural setting with her creative passions. It truly felt like stepping into one of her own works of art!

Indoors, Villa Terrace’s elegant rooms provided a rich, timeless backdrop. There, we captured a few portraits of Taylor seated at the piano, celebrating her musical skills (pro tip: kindly refrain from touching the actual piano during your visit!). We even added a fun twist—retouching a framed TV on the wall to display one of her paintings! For a touch of dark academia, we also worked with the woodwork and bookshelves to show off her love of literature—fitting since Taylor aspires to be a published author. With her growing interest in photography, I brought along a couple of vintage cameras to add extra charm to the session. These elements, paired with creative poses and her aesthetic, leaned into the cinematic feel she envisioned.

After Villa Terrace, we headed to Grant Park for the second half of Taylor’s session. Known for its beautiful Seven Bridges Trail, this park was the perfect spot to capture Taylor’s connection to nature. As golden hour arrived, the soft, warm light transformed the scene, making every shot feel like a moment from a movie. We finished the session at the beach, where the combination of sand, water, and evening colors created the perfect cinematic finale to Taylor’s portraits.
