A Milwaukee Love Story: Alex & Aaron’s Engagement at Cudahy Towers & the Lakefront

When it comes to engagement photography, choosing a location that holds personal significance can make the session even more special. For Alex and Aaron, that place was Cudahy Towers—the historic apartment building they had called home together. Their engagement session was not just about celebrating their love but also about preserving memories of a chapter they were about to close. The very next day, they were moving to a new place on Milwaukee’s East Side, making this session a beautiful way to capture the space that had meant so much to them.

We started in their apartment where their two cats, Mieszko and Tigger, made an adorable appearance (pets are family too!). After some cozy moments indoors, we stepped outside to take advantage of the building’s elegant architecture, highlighting its timeless charm. From there, we wandered toward Milwaukee’s lakefront, stopping at the Milwaukee Art Museum and surrounding areas—places where Alex and Aaron have shared so many moments together over the years. As the sun dipped lower, the sky put on a show with a gorgeous sunset, making for the dreamiest golden-hour portraits. And to wrap up their session, we returned to Cudahy Towers for some moody, romantic nighttime portraits at the entrance and inside its stunning lobby.

One of the most unique aspects of Alex and Aaron’s story is how Milwaukee’s city life has been woven into their relationship. They first met at a Cream City Swing dance event back in 2017, which was held at the Historic Pabst Brewery—a location that holds so much meaning for them that they chose it as their wedding venue! Their love for the city extends beyond dance floors, too. They enjoy biking around Milwaukee and taking public transit together, often riding The Hop and the bus for their adventures. We even made sure to grab a photo at an MCTS Route 14 bus stop as a nod to the many rides they’ve shared together.

Engagement sessions aren’t just about pretty backdrops—they’re about telling your story. Whether it’s the first place you lived together, a favorite date-night spot, or even a street corner you’ve passed a thousand times, incorporating meaningful locations adds a personal touch to your photos. For Alex and Aaron, this session was a tribute to their time at Cudahy Towers and a love letter to the city they adore. We can’t wait to continue documenting their journey when they say "I do" at Best Place at the Historic Pabst Brewery next year!
