5 Tips To Make The Most Of Your Getting Ready Photos
Are you considering getting ready photography coverage on your big day? So much buzz and excitement happens during this part of the day! Maybe you want a lot of coverage or maybe just a little or maybe none at all - We’re happy with whatever you decide! - We want your Getting Ready coverage to be just right for you.
We can arrive at the tail end for finishing touches - adjusting your tie, putting on your veil or jewelry, plus a little fun with those in the room. Or we can start earlier and photograph all the details - your attire, shoes, invitation suite, etc. Then we’ll capture you getting dressed with the help of your most important people and end with some portraits. We recommend 60-90 minutes for full getting ready coverage while 30-45 minutes is usually just right for finishing touches coverage.
Here are 5 tips to make the most of your Getting Ready coverage:
Pick a space with great natural light - Your photos will be amazing! The more light and the more room the better. Don’t forget to do a quick pick up of the room before we arrive - Nobody wants to see your leftover lunch and empty shoe boxes ;)
Consider booking a hotel suite or rental home (one with great natural light!) It’s nice having a home base for your wedding party and everyone can come and go as they please. Sometimes you need a little alone time on your big day too and you’ll be glad you have your own space. You’ll also have the perfect place to share with your love after your big day is over!
Have all the items you would like photographed organized for our arrival. That way you know you haven't forgotten anything. Get your dress/suit out of the bag and make sure you don’t forget to bring a pretty hanger!
Ask your florist to deliver your bouquets and boutonnieres to your getting ready location. Have a towel handy to dry off the bouquet stems and make sure you decide who will be pinning on the flowers. If the boutonnieres are heavy, 2 pins are a must. Or go with a pocket boutonniere - no pinning needed!
Always add a little extra time into your timeline for your hair and makeup. Sometimes things do not go as planned, and it’s nice having that cushion so you do not feel rushed.
BONUS TIP: Turn down the thermostat! Once all those people enter your getting ready space things start to heat up - Nobody wants to be melting before meeting up with their love!
